Natural Gas: Catalytic IR Heaters

Catalytic heaters, due to their low operating temperatures and heat
output per square foot of heater surface, are most often used for plastic
thermoforming. Their operating temperatures range from 600-1300°F.

Catalytic IR heaters have also been used for paint or powder finishing
lines where heating densities are relatively low.

How It Works:

  1. Electric resistance element preheats the catalyst pad
  2. Valves open and release gas when catalyst pad temperature is optimum
  3. Natural gas combines with air at the catalyst pad
  4. Catalyst pad becomes the radiating surface

Applications: Plastic Thermoforming, Paints & Coatings (where low heat density is required), Explosion-Proof Space Heating
