Natural Gas: Metal Fiber Mat Heaters

Unique by their damage-resistant flame diffusers, these heaters combine high heat flux rates with short flame. The diffuser is composed of a mat of metal alloy fibers. Combustion occurs close to the radiating surface, heating the mat of fibers, which radiates energy.

Operating temperatures are moderately high at 1850-2000°F.

The metal fiber mat heater operates when the gas-air mixture heats the metal fiber to incandescence rather than passing through a porous material such as in ported tile heaters.

How It Works:

  1. Gas and air are released through a valve
  2. The gas/air mixture passes through a porous matrix
  3. Mixture burns in interstices close to surface of matrix, heating the metal fiber mat to incandescence

Applications: Paper Drying, Paints & Coatings, Food Processing, Textiles
