Natural Gas: Ceramic Fiber Mat Heaters

Similar to metal fiber heaters, these heaters use damage-resistant flame diffusers composed of a mat, blanket or porous board of ceramic fiber.

These heaters differ in their shape varieties, including flat and cylindrical. They can also operate at relatively high heat flux rates.

Operating temperatures are similar to metal fiber mats with a top operating temperature of approximately 1800°F.

How It Works:

  1. Gas and air are released through a valve
  2. The gas/air mixture passes through a porous matrix
  3. Mixture burns in interstices close to surface of matrix, heating the ceramic fiber mat to incandescence

Applications: Paper Drying, Paints & Coatings, Textiles
