Plastics Processing: Finishing / Fabrication

There are four main categories for the finishing and fabrication of plastics:

Joining - this process involves the welding or uniting of components, frequently with ultrasonics, vibratory welding, or radio frequency.

Cutting - the slicing or shearing of components, usually with rotary knives, resistance heaters, and ultrasonics.

Curing - baking of composites, often with electric or gas convection ovens.

Decorating - application and drying of inks or coatings on plastic parts. Drying is typically accomplished by infrared, air dry, or, in some cases electric or gas convection ovens.
