Profile Information - Markets Served: Steel
Steel is the
backbone of bridges, large office buildings, railroads, automobiles, and appliances.
Currently, there are more than 3,000 catalogue grades of steel available, not
including custom grades for specific users. Most grades of steel in use today
-- particularly high strength steels that are lighter and more versatile -- were
not available ten years ago.
The Association
of Iron and Steel Engineers (AISE) has published a breakdown of the grades of
steel produced in 1999, as follows:
