Water Heater Technology Issues

For the most part a water heater is a relatively invisible appliance that receives little attention until it breaks down. Since the invention of the automatic water heater, the basic technology changed very little until the energy crisis of the 70s. Even today, most homes and businesses still employ up-dated variations of Ruud's basic storage water heater. The advent of new, more energy-efficient technologies, tighter building insulation, and environmental and safety concerns has brought issues to the foreground that have been and are being addressed by regulatory and water heating industry bodies.
