Boiler Technologies: Submerged Combustion Direct Contact
In
a submerged combustion direct contact boiler, water flows
downward through a vertical column filled with stainless steel
packing rings. Cold water comes into direct contact with the
rising hot combustion air from a gas burner. Heat from the
combustion gases is transferred to the water and the heated
water accumulates in a storage tank. The burner flame does
not contact the water directly. Heat transfer is optimized
without the use of heat transfer surfaces that can become
fouled. The process also produces very low NOx emissions.
Capacity/Energy
Input
2,900 gallons depending on temperature rise requirements
Efficiency
Can exceed 99%
