Tankless Coil Water Heaters
coil water heaters use a space heating system to heat water.
They are one type of combo system. Tankless coil systems differ
from other space and water heating combo systems in that coil
water heaters use the heat from the space conditioning unit,
either a furnace or boiler, in contrast to combo systems which
use a water heater to provide space heating.
A tankless coil water heater uses a heating coil
or heat exchanger installed in a main furnace or boiler. Whenever
hot water is needed, water flows through the heat exchanger.
These water heaters provide hot water on demand without a
tank, like an instantaneous water heater, but because they
rely on the furnace or boiler to heat the water directly,
tankless coil water heaters work most efficiently during cold
months when the heating system is used regularly. Thus, they
can be an inefficient choice in warmer climates.
Coil Water Heater
Combination systems are measured by their CAE, combined
appliance efficiency rating. Combination appliance efficiency
ratings range from 0.59 to 0.90.
Tankless coil water heaters have few moving parts
so maintenance and service is less than other types of water
